It’s not a walk in the park
To love each other
But when our fingers interlock,
Can’t deny, can’t deny you’re worth it
‘Cause after all this time I’m still into you
I should be over all the butterflies
But I’m into you (I’m into you)
And baby even on our worst nights
I’m into you (I’m into you)
Let ’em wonder how we got this far
‘Cause I don’t really need to wonder at all
Yeah, after all this time I’m still into you
Some things just, some things just make sense
And one of those is you and I (Hey)
Some things just, some things just make sense
And even after all this time (Hey)
I’m into you, baby, not a day goes by
That I’m not into you
Do me a favor and think about the people you love – especially the ones you’ve loved for awhile. Got a picture of them in your head? Okay – great. They’re super-cute, right? Are they still as cute/smart/sexy/magical as they were when you first met them? I hope so – I hope you find them even more fabulous now than you did in the beginning…in fact, I hope your fascination with them grows by leaps and bounds every day. That’s the way it ought to be, don’t you think? I feel that way about a lot of people in my life – not a day goes by that I don’t marvel at the sparkly little creature that is my daughter…she is AMAZING, and every day I fall more and more in love with her. She’s fantastic!
I’ve felt this way about my girlfriends, too…my closest friends have been in my life since we were young children, and without a word of a lie, I become more and more enchanted with them and the glorious women they’ve become as the years go by. They are awesome!
Do you have a Sweet Babboo/Shmoopie/Sugar Pants Honey Britches in your life? I hope that you do, because the warm fuzzy feelings that you feel from loving another person are absolute and utter MAGIC, don’t you think? If you have found somebody that makes your heart flutter with the butterflies that have escaped from your tummy, somebody who can make your toes tingle just by looking your way…then hold on to them and the love that you share. It is so rare, and so magical, that if you are careless with that, thinking that it’s like a bus that if you miss it you can always catch the next one, you may never find it again. The kind of love like the one described in the song above is rare and elusive…it must never be taken for granted. Your love doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s – the beauty of it may be found in its unique, unusual dynamics – and that is so okay. You will certainly know it when you find it – you may act like a smitten kitten, and keep repeating your love’s name over and over, because you like the way it feels in your mouth. You will go miles out of your way to spend a measly five minutes with your sweet, because every moment in their company feels like the most magnificent lifetime. You will find yourself brainstorming bullshit reasons to phone them – when really all you want is to hear their voice. You may take up humming cheerful ditties as a hobby, and perhaps small woodland creatures may start speaking to you while you’re on nature walks. You may start noticing all of the beautiful things around you every day – and chances are that you will feel a whole lot more positive and optimistic about the world around you. Sigh. ♥ I love love.
Does all of this sound like you and what you’ve got going on? I hope so. I want that for you, friends.
And remember – as they said in the fabulous movie ‘Moulin Rouge’: The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.
Je vous aime, mes amis.
